Come to Gulf Shores Alabama for the National Shrimp Festival featuring live music, arts & crafts, seafood and the beautiful white-sand beaches overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. This popular 4-day event that attracts over 300k people every year and is host to more than 80 hours of live musical entertainment including local, regional, & national muscians. There will be performances to please all palates, including Blues, Motown, Southern Rock, Jazz, Zydeco and Country. Music at the Shrimp Festival starts at 10 a.m. daily and continue into the late evening hours Thursday, Friday & Saturday and until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Food is always featured at the Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival – 50 local and regional vendors line the boardwalk at the public beach offering a variety of cuisine- 200 lbs of shrimp will be prepared daily by some of the area’s best chefs, using many of their award-winning recipes, for people to sample (tasting times will be posted outside of the sponsor tent). New activities this year include: “Outdoor World” and “Shrimp Festival Idol”. Outdoor World will feature fishing, boating, hunting and other outdoor vendors and activities. The Shrimp Festival Idol competition will feature high school singers from seven local schools will compete in elimination rounds to determine the winner and scholarships will be awarded to the top 3 contestants. Families can participate in the annual sand sculpture contest on Saturday, kids can take part in an array of activities in the Children’s Activity Village, including face-painting, karaoke and more. Exercise enthusiasts can enter the 10K and 5K races and burn off some extra calories. Art lovers can browse nearly 200 booths of fine art and arts & crafts vendors.
